Born in Lisbon (Portugal) in 1977. He is graduated in Environmental Engineering (New University of Lisbon, 2001) and worked for this institution as engineering consultant from 1998 to 2001 (mainly on remote sensing and water management projects).

After some consultant activity for private and public companies, he was researcher of University of Minho since 2002 to 2008, collaborating (sometimes with coordination responsibilities) on projects related to waste, water and wastewater management, contaminated areas, environmental and sustainability reporting, environmental impact assessment, strategic environmental assessment and sustainability indicators/indexes systems.

He founded Simbiente in 2004 and Simbiente Açores in 2009, working as Project Manager in the field of Sustainability and strategic planning since then.

Simultaneously, he was member of the National Advisory Group (NAG) – Training the Facilitators for Local Agenda 21 Implementation. Currently, he is executive member of the portuguese Engineers Association, member of auditors council of the Portuguese Society of Environmental Simulation and Risk Assessment and vice-president of the Engineering for Development and Humanitarian Assistance.
